Narinan x Octaevo

Narinan x Octaevo - Octaevo

A meeting of two design languages, and the objects that came out of it.

In summer 2018 we hoisted sails with Narinan and started an extraordinary adventure around the Balearic Sea. The sail is adorned with our symbolic print of Janus: the face of the ancient Roman god of the past and future. He watches NARINAN's course as she moves from port to port, pushed forward by a gentle breeze and guided by the stars.

"The sea is everything. It covers seven tenths of the terrestrial globe. Its breath is pure and healthy. It is an immense desert, where man is never lonely, for he feels life stirring on all sides."

Jules Verne

This exciting project started with the meeting of two friends and their love for the Mediterranean. Kenneth Perdigon, the captain of the sailboat NARINAN and Marcel Baer, the creator of OCTAEVO. Whilst sailing several times side by side, the idea of collaborating took shape.

Before offering bespoke voyages on board the NARINAN, Kenneth sailed the Mediterranean and lived in the Balearic Islands for 10 years. A professional sailor and nature lover, he also worked for two years as the captain of a Greenpeace boat. With NARINAN he offers his guests since 2015 an exceptional opportunity to disconnect from everyday life, discover untouched islands, learn about the Mediterranean fauna and flora and much more.

Marcel's father, a captain on the high seas himself, passed on his passion through vivid stories of adventure – precious memories of Marcel's childhood. From his OCTAEVO atelier in Barcelona, he explores the wonders of the Mediterranean in search of enchanting stories to inspire thoughtful design objects for contemporary living.

The essence of the NARINAN x OCTAEVO collaboration is a story of friendship, adventure and craftsmanship. It is also the story of Janus, the ancient Roman god of the past and the future, OCTAEVO's tribute to Mediterranean mythology. OCTAEVO offers a whole collection with this striking illustration: paper vases inspired by antique ceramics and reimagined for modern times, cushions that watch over your dreams, an eye-catching tote bag, luxurious notebooks and coasters that liven up your parties.

The Janus print goes beyond a simple visual and has become a character in itself. With its strong personality and all the ideas that the ancient god represents, Janus is the perfect symbol to accompany NARINAN on its voyages. With his two wise faces, he has overseen our adventures in the past and now keeps a watchful eye on everything that remains to be explored. We invite you to embark with us on this adventure. Let the journey begin.
